EMLA 7 produces a tree that is approximately 60% the size of a standard seedling.  EMLA 7 is a sturdy rootstock that does requires some support.  It is exceptionally winter hardy and is moderately resistant to collar rot.  Compared to trees grown on EMLA 9 or EMLA 26, trees grown on EMLA 7 are less precocious and have a lower cropping efficiency.  EMLA 7 does not perform well on light sandy soils.
